Shanghai Ruiju Scaffold Towers introduces you to the best towers out there. We've examined towers of different heights, and one that is customizable for difficult projects and sites. We tell you their features as well as their individual pros and cons as we make our recommendations.
If you are using any item of work at height equipment in the workplace including a scaffold tower, either as an employee or as a self-employed person, the Work at Height Regulations apply to you. You must ensure that not only the person building the tower is competent but also those who specify, use and supervise or manage the use of a tower are competent to do so.
Working at Height has 4 alternatives to Scaffolding.
Access tower. Similar in its appearance to a prefabricated scaffold, an access tower gives you the same capabilities without the installation.
Scissor lift. With their wheeled base units, scissors lifts are easy to put into position wherever you need them.
An aluminium mobile scaffold can only be built to a maximum height of 12 metres. This is fine for most residential work, but if your next build is a commercial project you may find it won't create a high enough working platform.
High tensile strength and material hardness are the two most desirable features here, which is why series T6-6061 aluminium is commonly employed in such load-carrying applications.
Supported Scaffolding, is built from the ground up the side of the building, using materials--tubes and couplers.
Mobile Scaffolding. Also known as rolling scaffolding, this is built up in a similar way to supported scaffolding, but is free standing and mounted on castors.
Suspended Scaffolding. This type of scaffolding can be raised or lowered to the required level. It is composed of pulleys, levers and switches.
Supported scaffolds, which consist of one or more platforms supported by rigid, load- bearing members, such as poles, legs, frames, outriggers, etc.
Suspended scaffolds, which are one or more platforms suspended by ropes or other non-rigid, overhead support.
Supported scaffolding is typically the go-to choice for many jobs. Unlike suspended scaffolding, supported scaffolds are built from the ground up. Its safety and efficiency make it the most common type of scaffold, and it is often used in construction.
Depending on the type of scaffolding, it takes anywhere from 2 to 48 hours to assemble your scaffold.
In the general industry, the height requirement for scaffolding is 4 feet above a lower level. For construction work, the height requirement is 6 feet above a lower level. All workers 10 feet above a lower level must have fall protection.
A light-weight type of scaffolding, aluminum scaffolding is one of the most popular choices on the market today. It's very durable and very flexible making it easy to install and a good choice for many types of jobs. The fast installation makes aluminum scaffolding great for many types of jobs.
Double scaffolding is also referred to as mason's scaffolding, basically because it is widely used for stone masonry works. This scaffolding type is generally stronger and provides better support for construction works as compared to brick layer's (single) scaffolding.
Scaffold, in building construction, temporary platform used to elevate and support workers and materials during the construction, repair, or cleaning of a structure or machine; it consists of one or more planks of convenient size and length, with various methods of support, depending on the form and use.
1. Standards: The vertical posts (also called uprights).
2. Ledgers: The horizontal members parallel to the wall.
3. Braces: The bracing system.
4. Putlogs: Horizontal members normal to the wall.
5. Transoms: Putlogs whose both ends are supported on ledgers in double scaffolding.
6. Bridle: Member used to bridge openings.
7. Boarding: Planks on which workmen stand.
8. Guard rail: Rail provided at about 1 m level to guard the men working on the boarding.
9. Toe board: Boards placed parallel to boarding near the wall to give protection to workers.
10. Base plate or sole plate: Plates on the ground supporting standards.
Scaffolds enable workers to move around a building safely in any direction needed to complete their task. The use of scaffolding is crucial in providing a safe and protected workplace where workers are required to work at a variety of heights. Its equipment provides support on height while ensuring workers' safety.
It allows builders to safely erect high-rise buildings and/ or carry out necessary repairs and maintenance of any structure or building. Scaffolding also ensures fast completion of the construction work needed, whilst guaranteeing the safety of workers and the general public.
The metals used for scaffolding are typically steel or aluminum. Steel scaffolding has great strength and durability. At the same time it has a certain amount of elasticity which helps prevent cracks. Steel can support very heavy loads, and workers can use it to transport heavy equipment and supplies.
It's basically a temporary platform for workers to stand on. It's used for tools and other resources the workers might need. These platforms can be used for those doing repair work or cleaning a building. Now the size of the scaffolding is all subject to the size of the building and job.
Scaffolding work includes putting up, changing or taking down of a temporary structure that is used to support a work platform, where a person or object could fall more than four metres. To perform basic scaffolding duties you need to have a Basic Scaffolding
The first step in building a scaffold is to: Conduct a site inspection.
Single Wide Scaffold is approximately 29 inches wide so it can roll through standard doorways. Perfect for work in congested or narrow areas. Available in 6, 8, or 10 ft lengths. When properly braced extension sets can be added to increase the height of Single Wide Scaffold.
Cantilever scaffolding, also known as needle scaffolding, is a type of scaffolding that is a separate scaffold that is built to angle out from a structure. Usually, this scaffolding is situated near balconies for easy access.
Scaffolding was made out of a selection of ropes and wood to help with the building and repair of structures. Hemp rope, wire, and sisal were used as ropes to hold the different scaffolds in place for climbing up to heights as high as the building required.
Metal scaffolding allows workers to access high and remote locations of any building. Metal scaffolding can come in many forms, depending on the project at hand. Supported scaffolding is the most common type of scaffolding. It's built from the ground up and is commonly seen at most construction sites.
Experts say employees need to understand that scaffolds are not permanent structures and care must be taken when working on all stages of scaffolding – from their construction to the work that takes place on them.
A scaffolding ladder is a piece of equipment used to allow a worker to pass from one level of a scaffolding structure to another. This scaffolding ladder can be mounted to the outside of the structure or within it, depending on the needs of the builder and the type of scaffolding being used.
Scaffolding safety is a combination of practices and safety procedures that enforces proper and safe use of scaffoldings. It involves a set of preemptive actions in building, inspecting, using, and tagging scaffolds.
Whenever anyone is working under, on or around a scaffold, the site supervisor must ensure that the individuals are wearing a hard hat and all the other necessary protective equipment. These include strong, non skid work boots and making sure that any loose tool is held secure by a lanyard.
All snow, ice, mud and any other debris such as wet leaves should be removed thoroughly before using the scaffold. Similarly, you should also avoid using scaffolding during any adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain, sleet, ice, snow and strong winds.
A license or permission is not required if your scaffolder or builder needs to erect scaffolding within your property's boundary. But, if one or more parts of the scaffolding will go on road or pavement outside your property, the scaffolder or builder should get license or permission from the local council.
